Clothes, cats and counter-culture.
Sheffield, 1989. Loveable, eccentric 71-year-old, Hilda, has run a second-hand clothes shop for decades. She does it to make money to feed 30 stray cats. One day, a journalist from The Guardian walks in…
Join Hilda’s granddaughter, Julie Flower, for a multi-character comedy-drama about family history subverting expectations. All in a nostalgic world of old carrier bags, pools coupons and vintage clothes.
Julie is a Kent-based writer and performer who is delighted to bring her 5-star Edinburgh Fringe hit show to Margate. Dramaturgy and direction are by Sarah Chew.
***** ‘Refined moments of sweet, revealing storytelling.’ (Three Weeks)
**** ‘You will leave bathed in the warm glow of humanity at its best.’ (Edinburgh Reporter)
**** ‘This celebration of the ordinary paints a rich picture of Sheffield in the 1980s.’ (The List)
Directed by Sarah Chew
